How to Make Delicious Garlic Bread with no Butter or Oil (WFPB)

I very often see questions about garlic bread in social media posts.

“How do I make vegan garlic bread?”

“I miss having garlic bread. Is there any way to do it WFPB?”

Unfortunately many answer with, “use xyz margarine,” or, “use olive oil.”

We can make garlic bread and still eat healthy. Just think outside the box a bit.

I’ve tried a few different things but I’ve found a really simple way to make delicious garlic bread while keeping it plant-based and oil-free.

WFPB Oil-free Vegan Garlic Bread

Total Time15 mins
Servings: 6

  • 1 whole grain baguette or your favorite crusty bread
  • ½ cup vegetable broth
  • garlic powder
  • garlic salt
  • fresh parsley minced (optional)
  • shallow flat-bottomed dish or dredging tray

  • If using a baguette, slice it in half lengthwise and cut to pieces to fit in dredging tray. Otherwise, slice the bread you’re using into thick slices.
  • Pour vegetable stock into dredging tray. You’ll want about 1/4″ depth.
  • Dip cut side of baguette pieces into tray for about 2 seconds, just enough time to get it wet but not enough to soak it.
  • Once dipped, place all pieces, wet side up, onto a baking sheet.
  • Sprinkle each piece with a hearty amount of garlic powder and garlic salt. Then top with parsley if using.
  • Place baking sheet under broiler until tops are golden brown. Make sure you keep an eye on it though. I couldn’t tell you how often I’ve gotten distracted and set these freakin’ things on fire!
  • Remove from oven, cut into smaller pieces if desired, and serve!
